Area Data : | Carved out of by Glaciers from the Coastal Mountain Range over 10,000 years ago this natural fjord is a wonderland consumed by nature. Narrows Inlet stretches 15 km inland half way up Sechelt Inlet. Dubbed the “Inland sea” the water way provides safe and sheltered access throughout the year from Porpoise Bay at Sechelt in less than 1 hour. The snow capped Mount Jimmy Jimmy seen from Narrows Inlet provides a spectacular back drop but more importantly is the start of the Tzoonie River system which leads from Tzoonie Lake into the Tzoonie River and out into the ocean at the head of Narrows Inlet. In the past, the Tzoonie supported large runs of chinook, chum, coho, sockeye and pink salmon as well as regionally significant populations of rainbow, cutthroat, dolly varden and steelhead trout. Today those runs are smaller but have been continually improving since changes to BC’s forest practice code in 1994. |
