Oceanfront Acreage with Cabin & Dock, Sunshine Coast, BC, Canada

Description

Affordable vacation getaway! 5.5 acres with 250 ft of low bank waterfront in Narrows Inlet on the Sunshine Coast. Includes 637 ft² wood frame cabin with loft, 536 ft² multi-level cedar deck and a ramp that leads to your own private dock.

Summary :

Situated within close proximity to Vancouver, this affordable oceanfront cabin is easily accessible for weekend get-a-ways.

Land

The land consists of 5.5 acres of low bank premium oceanfront with approximately 250 feet of water frontage. The property is largely treed, except for a small area around the cabin site. From the ocean roughly ¼ of the land rises in elevation to 20 metres above sea level. Over half of the land ranges between 40-80 metres above sea level and, finally, at the very back of the property, a small portion rises to 100 metres in elevation. A road right of way runs through the property, which allows access through neighbouring properties, and then connects into forest service access roads. This road does not connect to any other road, but would be ideal to use for walking, hiking, wildlife viewing and touring for an ATV or motorbike.

Foreshore

The foreshore is licensed. It is very well protected and is deep water in all tides for virtually any size or type of boat.
The moorage system is brand new. A 24-foot-long by 4-foot-wide aluminum ramp extends from the property onto a 20-foot-long by 12-foot-wide float. The float is constructed out of a wood frame and deck system with poly flotation. The float is ideal to use as an additional sundeck for lounging and swimming. The ocean temperature is very desirable in the summer months for swimming.

Access

This property is water access only. Porpoise Bay in Sechelt is the most convenient marina to use as a staging area where you transition from your vehicle to your boat. It is close to downtown Sechelt where you have easy access to services and supplies and is a great place to pickup arriving guests. From Porpoise Bay Marina it is a 35 km boat ride to the property. The water way is extremely sheltered making access to the property safe throughout the year.

Cabin

The cabin is 24 x 24 feet in dimension. The main floor is a wide-open space which has a large kitchen, living room and dining room. From all corners of the main floor you can see the water. Up a ladder is a small loft used as the sleeping area.
The cabin is rustic. It does have running water, which is supplied by a water licence from the neighboring creek, which is gravity fed to the property.
There is a propane fridge and stove for cooking, lighting is propane, and heat is provided by a wood stove in the living room. There is no electricity.
There is a kitchen sink with running water. There is no bathroom, but an outhouse is located a short distance behind the cabin.
The cabin is wood frame with cedar siding and wood panel interior. The roof is metal, the windows are single glaze, and the foundation is post on block.
Surrounding the cabin is a large cedar deck, which is perfect for entertaining guests or relaxing in your own peace and solitude.

Recreation :

Some of the best recreation is searching for your next meal. Catching fish, prawns and crab, as well as picking clams, mussels and oysters, are all readily available in the immediate area.

The location is popular for site seeing, kayaking and hiking.

White sided dolphins call Narrows, Salmon, Sechelt and Jervis Inlets home. It seems when we are in these waters that we see them all the time. If you are lucky, you may see the whole pod together, which is around 100 dolphins.

Area Data :

Carved out by glaciers from the Coastal Mountain Range over 10,000 years ago, this natural fjord is a wonderland consumed by nature.

Narrows Inlet stretches 15 km inland half way up Sechelt Inlet. Dubbed the “Inland Sea,” the water way provides safe and sheltered access throughout the year from Porpoise Bay at Sechelt in less than 1 hour.

The snow capped Mount Jimmy Jimmy seen from Narrows Inlet provides a spectacular back drop, but more importantly is the start of the Tzoonie River system which leads from Tzoonie Lake into the Tzoonie River and out into the ocean at the head of Narrows Inlet.

In the past, the Tzoonie River supported large runs of chinook, chum, coho, sockeye and pink salmon, as well as regionally significant populations of rainbow, cutthroat, dolly varden and steelhead trout. Today those runs are smaller, but have been continually improving since changes to BC’s forest practice code in 1994.
