This property is looking for someone with a spirit of adventure. While to some its isolation and boat-only access may be a deterrent, that will be the main attraction for the family that buys it.

The waterfront measures 195 ft and the shoreline area of this particular property, unlike most of the lots along the Valdes shore, is quite level.

About 300 ft behind the existing cabin the topography rises up to an extensive open grassy meadow, ending at the top of the slope in a stand of old gnarled pines.

The cabin is 864 ft2 on the main floor, with 96 ft2 of sleeping loft above the open ceilinged A-frame kitchen. The main floor has a kitchen and dining area and a living room with floor to ceiling windows, providing a magnificent view of the beach and the Gulf of Georgia all the way up Howe Sound to Black Tusk. There are two bedrooms across the rear of the building and a small storeroom that could be a bathroom.

Standing in the living room by the fireplace looking out towards Garibaldi Mt. in the far distance, you feel almost like you were on a yacht at sea. There is a roof over the 8 x 24 ft back porch and a roomy deck at the front. The whole cabin was reroofed with metal 7 years ago, except the A-frame peak, which is hand split shakes in good condition, as is all of the siding.

Toilet facilities are an outhouse which currently needs rebuilding - a new hole has been dug about 20 yards from the back door and there is a cedar slatted shower deck beneath the front of the cabin.

The kitchen has a large size RV propane refrigerator and a propane free standing range with oven. The walls and ceiling of the kitchen are finished in T&G spruce and yellow cedar. The walls of the rest of the cabin are T&G pine and the ceilings are T&G red cedar. Propane lines run to propane lights in the living room, bedrooms and kitchen.

The whole cabin is insulated, except for the floor, and heating is provided by an airtight wood burner in the living room, which makes a lovely fireplace with the doors open. Rain water is collected off the roof and stored in a plastic 250 gal fish tote that is piped to the kitchen and shower stall.

There is a large solid concrete mooring block offshore the cabin that will hold your boat in any weather. The owner is also looking to sell their 23 ft welded aluminum with 225 hp main, 10 hp kicker and trailer for an additional $25,000.

This truly is a beautiful property at a very affordable price. From the property you will regularly see eagles, geese, seals, racoons, otters, blacktail deer and occasionally whales and porpoises. Call to arrange a viewing today!

Location : This affordable oceanfront property is located just south of Detwiller Point on the northeastern shore of Valdes Island. Valdes Island is situated directly across Georgia Strait from Vancouver, centered between Gabriola Island to the North and Galiano Island to the South. Valdes Island is only accessible by water or float plane. There is no ferry service to Valdes Island, but water taxi services are available from Gabriola Island, Nanaimo or Chemainus.

The island features an excellent array of wildlife. Common marine animals include Harbor Seals (year-round), Steller and California Sea Lions (late-Aug through mid-May), Harbor Porpoises, Orca, Gray and Humpback Whales (summer months). River Otters, Black-Tailed Deer and Bald Eagles make their home on the island. Bird watchers can spot Wilson's Warblers, Pacific-Slope Flycatchers, Black Oystercatchers, White-Crowned Sparrows, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, as well as other species.
